The role involves supporting laboratory operations by performing basic clinical testing, logging specimens, and managing patient data. Additionally, the assistant handles inventory, maintains lab cleanliness, and serves as a liaison between the lab and client offices.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience in a laboratory setting. Certification from ASCP or AMT is required.
Assist with basic clinical laboratory testing under supervision, in accordance with lab policies and medical regulations. Log specimens and accurately input patient data into the lab information system. Generate and distribute worklists to appropriate lab sections. Prepare specimens for transport to reference laboratories. Maintain records by filing hard copies, lab reports, and test result documentation. Ensure compliance with quality control and performance improvement procedures. Respond to incoming calls and serve as a primary liaison between the lab and client offices. Order and manage laboratory supply inventory. Maintain cleanliness and safety of the lab environment, including proper disposal of specimens. Assist with scheduling and coordination of non-technical staff. Perform other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Director or designee. QualificationsQualifications High School diploma or GED required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a laboratory setting. Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
