The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care in the Emergency Room through assessment, planning, and execution of provider interventions. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, documenting care, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
Candidates must hold a current Registered Nurse License in Colorado and BLS certification, with ACLS, TNCC, and PALS required within six months of hire. One year of RN experience is highly preferred.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process. In the Emergency Room is responsible for identifying patient needs and priorities for care through assessment, planning for and delegating care based on patient needs, executing Provider interventions, and evaluating the patient's response to care and progress towards outcomes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assess the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Develop a plan of patient care reflecting significant nursing diagnosis and interventions to achieve desired patient outcomes, involving the patient/family and healthcare team in this process. Implement the patient plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team. Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge. Revise as needed and make referrals when indicated. Complete required documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Utilize manual and automated information systems to improve efficiency and effect productivity. Demonstrate a current working knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and medications. Adhere to the standards, policies, procedures, and goals of the Hospital District. Act as a liaison in coordinating patient care activities with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals. Communicate patient’s plan of care and significant changes to all members of the interdisciplinary team and to the patient, family, and significant others. Participate in and support performance improvement and risk management activities. Provide education as indicated after assessing the learning needs of the patient, family, staff members and students. Demonstrate cost effectiveness by using supplies judiciously, anticipating needs for special supplies and equipment, and making recommendations for change. Complete required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances. Initiate assessments based on the patient's presenting problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis in a timely manner. Collects key information from patient, family, laboratory, and other medical reports. Implements T-System and documents assessment, including nursing diagnoses or other clinical judgments. Completes ongoing assessments as determined by patient condition. Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as ordered by the Provider consistent with primary and population-specific standards of care and practice. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current Registered Nurse License in good standing with the State of Colorado. BLS. ACLS, TNCC and PALS certifications required within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: One year of experience as an RN is highly preferred
Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures for a wide variety of hospital district equipment, utilities, and building problems.
Must be able to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively with teams and leadership while demonstrating a high level of integrity, sound judgment, and attention to detail. This role requires professionalism in all interactions with employees, patients, and the public, along with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all SECHD, state, and federal policies and regulations. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a professional and compassionate demeanor. Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software systems are required. Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations, including Laboratory and CLIA requirements, is preferred. Dependability, initiative, and the ability to see tasks through to completion are critical, as is a commitment to safety, quality, and working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.
