About the role

The PMHNP provides comprehensive psychiatric care, including evaluations and medication management, for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized treatment plans in outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Program settings.

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals experiencing mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders within an outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) setting.

The PMHNP conducts psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, medication management services, and ongoing treatment monitoring while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to manage complex mental health presentations, and a commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered care.

The PMHNP will work closely with therapists, social workers, peer support staff, and case management providers to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support emotional stability, symptom reduction, recovery, and overall functioning.

Responsibilities include prescribing and monitoring psychiatric medications, assessing medication effectiveness and side effects, providing psychoeducation to clients and families, responding to crisis situations when clinically indicated, and maintaining timely and compliant clinical documentation within the electronic health record system.

The ideal candidate demonstrates compassion, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to build therapeutic rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Experience working with co-occurring disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders is preferred.

The PMHNP must maintain compliance with all state, federal, Medicaid, HIPAA, and agency regulations while contributing to a collaborative and recovery-oriented treatment environment at Nava Behavioral Health.

Requirements

Candidates must possess strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage complex mental health presentations. Experience with co-occurring disorders, trauma, and various mood or psychotic disorders is preferred.
