The Patient Care Assistant provides direct patient care, including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. They are also responsible for wound care, stocking unit supplies, and assisting with the patient discharge process.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification, and CPR certification through the American Heart Association. One year of pediatric experience is preferred.
Delivers patient care including personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility, ambulation, comfort and rest. Orients the patient and family to the patient care areas and assists them to feel comfortable with their surroundings. Provides delegated nursing care activities and assists the caregiver as appropriate in daily care, oral hygiene, weights, I&O's. Takes part in the discharge process under the direction of the RN. Keeps unit and work areas stocked appropriate to the number, acuity and age of patients currently present including PPE. Seeks opportunities to assist others when assigned work is complete. Provides wound and skin care under the direction of the RN, as appropriate for assigned unit. This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
