  • Summary: Physical Therapist will evaluate a variety of patients and provide patient care, including evaluations, performing tests and measures, assessing patient needs, helping in complex procedures, and provide a plan of care. They will work as members of the rehabilitation team to implement the agreed-upon plan of care of each patient. They are also responsible for adhering to the departments’ treatment schedule, clinical procedures and billing documentation for each of their patients The Physical Therapist will work with and instruct patients, family members and care givers of the patient on their treatment plan and how to implement that program in the clinic and at home.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients and identify needs and goals. Review and evaluate patient through tests, movements, and conversation. Collaborate with patient doctors for referrals, notes, and medical history. Discuss patient’s goalposts with physicians, surgeons, and healthcare team as appropriate. Create and implement treatment care plans tailored to each patient’s needs and goals, as well as establish patient benchmarks. Schedule exercises and therapies for patients. Observe and review patient progress. Exercise personal judgment (i.e., make modifications as needed) during treatment execution to ensure patient safety and continued progress. Motivate and encourage patients throughout the treatment process. Assist and demonstrate proper stretches, techniques, exercise moves, and equipment uses. Devise detailed exercise techniques, stretches, and self-care programs for patients to complete between sessions. Evaluate effects of therapy and keep detailed records of patient appointments and progress. Communicate with patients’ physicians regularly to ensure consistent care. Educate patient family members, caretakers, or close friends on the patient’s treatment plan. Recommend specialists to patients who need additional medical attention. Document patient medical progress and treatment; record notes to update medical conditions. Reduce patients’ need for medications and surgeries by improving range of motion, strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. Comply with federal and state physical therapy regulations. Maintain patient confidentiality. Enhances physical therapy department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position. Regular attendance. Travel as required. Other Functions Enforces Company policies and safety procedures. Regularly updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations. Maintain IPA, Health Plan compliance standards. QualificationsCompetencies Two (2) years of experience working in healthcare or physical rehabilitation setting. Able to perform CPR or additional emergency procedures if needed. Proven work ethic and dedication to patient care throughout the recovery process. Ability to communicate and adapt to different patients and personalities. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a wide variety of patients, medical staff, and caregivers. A high level of professionalism and personal ethics. Extensive education in the field of physical therapy as well as clinical experience. A thorough knowledge of current treatment practices. Ability to effectively mentor and lead a medical team and patients. Ability to demonstrate compassion and sensitivity to patients’ needs and concerns. Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) Ability to demonstrate compassion and sensitivity to patients’ needs and concerns. Ability to solve mid-level problems with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise sound discretion and strict maintenance of confidentiality of all confidential and sensitive communications and information. Excellent attention to detail and ability to document information accurately. Self-motivated with strong organizational, multi-tasking, planning, and follow up skills. Ability to consistently deliver excellent customer service. Collaboration with others, and development of partnerships and good working relationships. Ability to demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and sincerity in a diverse work culture Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Ability to provide and receive constructive job and/or industry related feedback. Must have the ability to quickly learn and use new software tools. Must have mid-level skills using e-mail applications. Demonstrate commitment to the organization’s mission. Ability to present self in a professional manner and represent the Company image. Education and Licensure High School Diploma or GED minimum requirement. Bachelor’s degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Certified and licensed to work in California by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. MA/MS in applicable field Active and Unrestricted license to practice Physical Therapy in California. Active and unrestricted CPR and first aid certification.

Requirements

Requires a graduate degree in Physical Therapy, a valid California license, and active CPR/First Aid certification. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
