Provide personal care, health-related services, and household maintenance to clients according to an authorized Plan of Care. Support consumer independence and dignity through assistance with daily living activities and companionship.
Requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and a commitment to the philosophy of independent living.
The In-Home Attendant provides personal care and health- related services to clients in accordance with the authorized Plan of Care. Services are delivered in a manner that promotes consumer, independence, dignity, safety and quality of life, consistent with the philosophy of Independent Living.
Changes bed linens; washes, dries, and irons consumer laundry; cleans consumer living areas. Cleans kitchen fixtures and appliances; dusts, sweeps, and maintains floors. Cleans bathroom fixtures; dust, sweeps, and maintains floors. Purchases, prepares, and serves meals, including meals requiring adherence to prescribed dietary guidelines. Assists consumers into and out of bed, wheelchair, bathroom, and up or down stairs as needed. Assists consumers with dressing, undressing, bathing, grooming, and toileting. Applies non-prescribed topical lotions/ointments and brings medications and water to the consumer as directed. Assists with transfers and mobility for partial weight-bearing consumers. Reads and writes essential correspondence for consumers unable to do so independently. Cleans and maintains essential medical equipment. Attends required in-service training on relevant care topics. Performs miscellaneous duties such as obtaining household supplies and running essential errands. Maintain accurate records of services performed and observations regarding the consumer’s condition. Provides companionship activities, including reading aloud and playing games, when assigned (respite care only). Performs additional duties as assigned.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Adequate vision and manual dexterity to perform duties safely and effectively. Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of independent living and the disability rights movement. Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds. Demonstrated interest in providing supportive care services to individuals with disabilities.
