Provide advanced care for critical and stable hospitalized patients under the direction of a supervising veterinarian. Perform diagnostics, execute treatment plans, and maintain accurate paperless medical records.
Requires at least one year of veterinary technician experience and a high school diploma. Must be a Colorado Registered Veterinary Technician or eligible to become registered upon hire.
The Emergency/Intensive Care Unit (ER/ICU) Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide advanced care for the hospitalized patients that are deemed critical and stable according to the veterinarian’s evaluation and AESC’s defined levels of hospitalization. This individual will assess patients and facilitate treatments under the direction of the supervising veterinarian. They will have excellent communication with the supervising veterinarian and address concerns with the patients as they arise. The ER/ICU Technician is expected to work with all doctors, technicians, and assistants to perform diagnostics and execute treatment plans for the hospitalized patient.
Provides excellent and advanced patient care to every hospitalized patient. Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments and procedures that need to be done. Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders. Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients receive the best possible patient care. Immediately respond to and assist with STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols. Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing EzyVet and Smartflow. Demonstrate working knowledge of medical and financial practices, including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment, and discharging patients. Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions. Attending department and staff meetings. Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness, and organization of the hospital. Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery). Other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements: At least 1 year of Veterinary Technician experience required High school diploma or equivalent Colorado Registered Veterinary Technician or the ability to become registered upon hire Applicants may apply if they are in the process of obtaining CVT/RVT as well. Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
At least 1 Veterinary Technician experience in an Emergency or Specialty Practice Strong technical skills to provide excellent and efficient patient care. Ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Excellent communication skills in all areas including clients, staff, and leadership. Great work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to adhere to strict attendance policies. Ability to handle fluctuation in caseload and emergency situations.
