Summary: The Outpatient Advanced Practice Clinician in Gynecologic Oncology, while balancing autonomous practice with appropriate physician collaboration, provides comprehensive care for patients with gynecologic malignancies throughout the gynecologic cancer care continuum. This role encompasses systemic therapy management, acute care coordination, post-operative care, post-treatment surveillance, survivorship counseling and hereditary cancer risk assessment and counseling. This position requires advanced clinical judgment in independently managing routine surveillance visits, chemotherapy clearance, and infusion-related needs and having ability to triage and appropriately escalate care when needed to physician colleagues. This position requires experience in general medical oncology and will require ongoing learning to develop expertise in gynecologic oncology including management of chemotherapy/toxicities, post operative care, hereditary cancer syndromes, and evidence-based surveillance strategies per NCCN guidelines.

Description: · Autonomously assess and clear patients for chemotherapy administration by evaluating performance status, laboratory values, and treatment-related toxicities ·
Manage chemotherapy-related toxicities including but not limited too: myelosuppression, neuropathy, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal dysfunction, and infusion reactions · Collaborate with the outpatient infusion team to address acute needs during chemotherapy administration · Monitor and respond appropriately to laboratory abnormalities with independent dose modifications or treatment delays as per protocol, escalating to physician when indicated · Work collaboratively with the RN team to triage and facilitate timely assessment/management to address acute outpatient needs for patients on active treatment or in surveillance · Exercise clinical judgment to determine appropriate level of care ( APC vs. MD, outpatient management vs. emergency department referral vs. hospital admission) · Provide basic postoperative care including wound assessment, management of surgical complications, and routine follow-up · Perform pelvic examinations · Perform office-based gynecologic procedures including endometrial biopsy and colposcopy Practice Highlights Monday-Friday with 36 hours of direct patient care and 4 hours of administrative time.
