Provide high-quality, patient-centered dental care for pediatric populations with a focus on prevention and early intervention. Collaborate with medical providers to support an integrated care model for underserved and Medicaid populations.
Requires a degree from an accredited school of dentistry and a current, unrestricted Kansas dental license. BLS and DEA licenses are required, while a Pediatric Dentistry residency and bilingual skills are preferred.
Provides comprehensive dental care to pediatric patients, including infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs. Utilizes behavior management techniques and communication appropriate for pediatric populations with varying levels of dental anxiety or medical/developmental complexity to ensure cooperation and safety in order to provide effective and compassionate care. Assesses and manages patients requiring sedation and/or coordinates referrals for advanced behavior guidance or anesthesia when appropriate. Delivers preventive and restorative services aligned with pediatric clinical guidelines and risk-based care models by prioritizing needs and providi9ng risk-based treatment plans. Educates patients and staff on oral health-related conditions and the general promotion of oral disease prevention. Collaborates closely with pediatric medical providers to support integrated care, including screenings, referrals, and shared care planning. Supports caregiver education on oral health, disease prevention, and the oral-systemic health connection in children. Collaborates with dental team to ensure appropriate dental or oral treatment by referring individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical privileges and all clinical procedures and guidelines. Ensures proper utilization of dental assistants and support staff to ensure efficient and adequate patient flow while delivering quality dental care to all patients. Records patient-dentist encounters as they occur in the patient’s dental record in accordance with the organizational standard and the standard of care. Assures adequate supervision and training to the dental hygienist, dental students, and dental assistant staff. Meets productivity and quality metrics as required per grant program guidelines. Collaborate with all HHC clinical staff and departments to ensure holistic and integrative care approach. Provides dental education and technical assistance to the community as requested. Travels when necessary to meet operational needs. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Graduate from an accredited school of dentistry is required. Completion of an accredited Pediatric Dentistry residency program preferred; will consider candidates with significant experience in pediatric dental care. Current and unrestricted license as a dentist in the state of Kansas, while obtaining continuing education hours to maintain active licensure is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, within 30 days of hire. Current and unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license is required. Familiarity with sedation dentistry principles or willingness to pursue sedation privileges is preferred. Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers. Bilingual abilities are preferred.
