The nurse is responsible for the overall management of acute hemodialysis care, including patient assessment, medication administration, and the operation of dialysis machinery. Key duties include initiating and terminating treatments, monitoring intra-dialytic progress, and ensuring strict infection control.
Candidates must be a New York Registered Nurse with at least one year of experience in both hemodialysis and med/surg or critical care. A degree from an accredited School of Nursing and BLS certification are required, while a BSN is preferred.
Assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, and overall management of care. Familiarity with Fresenius 2008T dialysis machines Ambulatory Epic Outpatient EMR charting system Performs assessment of dialysis patients pre/post dialysis sessions Ability to cannulate AVF/AVG, access permacatheter required Monitoring and documentation of hemodialysis intra-dialytic treatments Initiation/Termination of dialysis treatments Familiar with infection control practices in a dialysis unit Knowledgeable of water treatment purification system Works collaboratively with other team members Demonstrates knowledge regarding blood and drug administration, incompatibilities, contraindications and adverse effects
1 year prior med/surge or critical care experience required 1 year hemodialysis experience required New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) required
