Hiram W. Davis Medical Center, located in Petersburg, Virginia, is a medical facility providing acute medical diagnoses, skilled care, intermediate care, and long-term care to individuals receiving services in DBHDS facilities and within the community that have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Admissions to HWDMC are generally either permanent placement or special hospitalization. Patients typically come to HWDMC as a special hospitalization for step-down to stabilize, post-surgery rehabilitation, or long-term care.
Hiram Davis Medical Center is currently recruiting Licensed Practical Nurses for the Evening and Night Shift to provide direct and skilled nursing support to patients of all ages, assisting with personal care, daily activities, nourishment, mobility, and restorative exercises. Duties include: Monitor and document patient health, behavior, and treatments and reporting any changes to licensed staff. Support one-to-one supervision, safe patient transport, and maintain a clean, safe environment. Coordinate staffing, participate in therapeutic activities, and ensure care is delivered according to hospital policies and standards.
Knowledgeable in practical nursing principles, patient care, anatomy, pharmacology, and hospital safety. Skilled in medication administration, patient assessments, IV/PICC care, catheterizations, and restorative exercises. Able to implement care plans, supervise staff, provide one-to-one patient care, and respond to emergencies. Proficient in documentation, communication, and coordinating patient transport and behavioral plans, with flexibility to work varied shifts and overtime.
LPN's will work two 12 hour shifts and two 8 hour shifts per week to equal 40 hours
Current licensure as LPN with the Virginia State Board of Nursing. Graduation from an accredited School of Practical Nursing along with successful completion of an acceptable Pharmacology course. Knowledge of medication administration and EHR systems.
