About the role

The Advanced Practice Practitioner will provide comprehensive care across all age groups, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of health problems. Responsibilities also include performing minor procedures and emergency measures as needed.

Job Summary

Seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for 24-40 hrs/week. Providing comprehensive care across all age groups.

Essential Job Duties

  • Take a complete, detailed, and accurate history; do a complete physical examination, when appropriate, to include pelvic, rectal and breast examinations; record pertinent data in an acceptable medical form in accordance to West River Health Services policy and procedure.
  • Autonomously as well as in collaboration and/or supervision of a physician, assess, diagnose, treat and manage the patient’s health problems/needs both acute and chronic.
  • Able to assess patient status and needs per phone conversation with appropriate advice, referral and appropriate documentation of advice, referral and/or medication prescribed.
  • Competent with clinical skills, knowledgeable in the assessment, treatment and care of specific populations (such as neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, developmentally disabled) in accordance to scope of practice, level of licensure and responsibilities.
  • Order, conduct, supervise and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic agents, in accordance with scope of practice, as well as non-pharmacologic therapies.
  • Provide health promotion, teaching and counseling to individuals, families and groups as appropriate in the realm of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Autonomously as well as in collaboration and/or supervision of the physician, perform minor treatments and procedures such as: removal of foreign bodies; removal of sutures; removal of impacted cerumen; debridement of minor superficial burns; debridement and care of superficial wounds; suture of non-complicated lacerations; subcutaneous local anesthesia, excluding nerve blocks and trigger point injections unless specifically trained and approved by West River physicians and under the supervision of a physician; wrapping, splinting and stabilizing sprains, strains and fractures; removal of casts, anterior nasal packing for epistaxis; incision and drainage of superficial skin infections; injections/aspirations; immunizations.
  • Assist primary care provider in providing services to patients requiring continuum of care (such as nursing home, assisted living, home care, pregnancy, well baby/child, post-hospitalization, post clinic visit) including follow-up visits.
  • Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment of appropriate measures in situations such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, shock, hemorrhage, convulsions, poisonings, and emergency obstetric delivery.

License Requirements

  • ND Physician Assistant or NDBON Nurse Practitioner License
  • DEA
  • BLS/ACLS or within 6months of hire

Normal working hours

  • 8am - 5pm
  • Starting salary range: $55.13 - $70.76
