Job description
1.
Prepares, dispenses, and controls medications and other pharmaceuticals in accordance with applicable Federal, State, professional and hospital standards and procedures.
2.
Maintains expertise through understanding of product advances and developments.
3.
Assigns and monitors tasks of supportive personnel.
4.
Reviews medication orders for completeness and appropriateness (i.e. dosage, compatibilities, scheduling, choice of medication etc.).
5.
Compounds pharmaceuticals as needed including intravenous admixtures, TPN and other products using accepted standards of practice and control.
6.
Insures proper labeling of medications and supplies.
7.
Provides proper storage and maintains proper records as required by state, federal law and hospital policy and procedure.
8.
Provides drug information to medical, nursing and other appropriate individuals concerning medications and pharmaceuticals as required by Federal law, State law, and hospital policy and procedure.
9.
Issues and controls medications supplied to the patient care units and other authorized areas or departments that store medications.
10.
Performs other duties as directed/requested.
11.
Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
12.
Provides medication order-entry, clinical information and telephone availability service to Falmouth Hospital during the evening/night shift.
Follows all Falmouth Hospital medication policies and procedures for all Falmouth Hospital orders.
· Graduate of accredited pharmacy program. · Currently licensed (or eligible) in Massachusetts. · Ability to practice hospital pharmacy at current standards. · Able to operate required equipment.
