The Mental Health Technician provides continuous patient care supervision, milieu management, and leads therapeutic groups under the direction of a Registered Nurse. They are responsible for conducting safety rounds, participating in crisis interventions, and following individualized patient care plans.
Candidates must be high school graduates with a current BLS certification and preferably one year of healthcare or behavioral health experience. The role requires the ability to pass competency assessments and perform physically demanding tasks, including restraining aggressive patients.
The Mental Health Technician (MHT), under the direction of a Registered Nurse, is an active member of the patient treatment team. Provide Milieu management and continuous patient care supervision, interactions and role modeling to patients; ensure a safe environment, lead therapeutic MHT patient groups; conduct Q15 rounds and one to one patient supervision as well as participate in crisis intervention situations as needed. Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient and maintain awareness of patient’s individualized plan of care including goals and interventions.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
