Requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field and 6-12 months of experience with challenged youth. Must possess or be willing to obtain certifications in Crisis Management, CPR, ERS, Safety, and OSHA.
The Residential Care Counselor provides direct care, supervision, and support to children in a residential treatment setting. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, this role helps develop and implement individualized treatment plans while ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for all children. Key Responsibilities Ensure the safety and well-being of assigned children Develop, implement, and monitor individualized residential care plans Complete initial assessments and treatment plans within 24 hours of admission Review and update care plans regularly based on observations and progress Supervise daily routines and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene Maintain accurate, timely documentation of observations and treatment interventions Communicate care plans and updates with multidisciplinary team members Build therapeutic relationships with children and families Respond to behavioral crises using safe, least-restrictive interventions Maintain a structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment Participate in treatment team meetings, shift reports, and program activities Model appropriate behavior and interactions for children and families Support recreational and therapeutic programming Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field (or equivalent experience) 6–12 months of experience working with emotionally or behaviorally challenged youth Required certifications (or willingness to obtain): Crisis Management CPR ERS, Safety, and OSHA Core Competencies Demonstrates Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence Ability to build trust and value diversity Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations Work Environment Residential behavioral health setting Team-oriented, fast-paced environment Independent work within established policies and procedures No supervisory responsibilities Why Join Us?
