About the role

The APRNP is responsible for the assessment, treatment planning, and follow-up of patients with substance use and mental health disorders. Key duties include performing physical examinations, psychological screenings, and coordinating medical services across two clinic locations.

Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders. PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

Job summary and primary responsibilites: ~This position is 30hrs/week, 3 days at one clinic, 2 days in other clinic~

Monday through Friday 6: 30 am to 12 pm

  • This position practices clinical care delivery under the guidelines of the State Board of Nursing per physician protocol. Responsible for the assessment, treatment planning implementation and follow-up of referred patients.
  • Coordinates all medical admissions and performs physical examinations.
  • Performs initial psychological screening and makes treatment recommendations.
  • Maintains high standard of clinical documentation according to charting process.
  • Coordinates the ongoing medical and psychological services provided.
  • Maintains oversight of resident pharmacy needs.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled supervision meetings with Medical Director and Program Physician.
  • Acts as an integral part of multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provides face to face interviews as requested.
  • Manages patient care within the guidelines of safe and cost effective measures
  • Maintains clear and safe driving record
  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of theory and directed clinical experience in comprehensive physical and bio-psycho-social assessment
  • Knowledge of interviewing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of health care delivery systems
  • Knowledge of community resources and referrals to appropriate professionals or agencies
  • Knowledge of pharmacology to include the initiation, selection, and the modification of selected drug regimen
  • Ability to interpret laboratory findings
  • Ability to elicit, record and maintain a health history

Education and experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Master’s Degree in Psychiatric, Family or Adult Health Nursing
  • Four (4) years of supervised clinical nursing work preferred
  • Addiction and/or mental health experience preferred

Licenses, certifications and registrations

  • Current Florida license as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
  • DEA License preferred
  • DATA 2000 Waiver preferred
  • PMHNP certification

Essential physical/Technical skills

  • Ability to write accurately and legibly
  • Moderate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows-based computers
  • Ability to accurately type at least 40 words per minute
  • Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop and reach
  • Ability to sit in meetings for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move throughout program facilities both indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to lift and carry 10 pounds
  • Good hearing and vision

Special requirements

Must have a valid driver’s license.
