Job Description: Make an Impact in Critical Care

Join a collaborative, patient-centered critical care team where your clinical expertise directly impacts patient outcomes. As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Intensive Care Unit, you will work closely with Intensivists, surgeons, hospitalists, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams to deliver exceptional care to critically ill patients.

Reporting to the Medical Director of the ICU, you will play a key role in the assessment, admission, stabilization, treatment, and ongoing management of patients in the ICU. This position offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license while developing your skills in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

Patient Assessment & Care Management

· Partner with physicians to complete pre-admission histories and physical examinations.

· Ensure all required diagnostic testing is completed prior to admission.

· Assess, evaluate, and document patient progress throughout the course of care.

· Coordinate treatment plans and review patient care management issues with the Intensivist.

· Consult appropriate resources and specialists when needed.

Clinical Procedures & Diagnostics

· Review laboratory and diagnostic test results and develop clinical interpretations.

· Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including: o Central venous line insertion and removal

o Arterial line insertion

o Nasogastric and enteral feeding tube placement

o Bladder catheterization

o Phlebotomy and IV insertion

o Electrocardiograms (EKGs)

ICU Management

· Enter orders for ICU admissions and ongoing patient care.

· Conduct daily patient rounds independently and/or alongside Intensivists and surgical teams.

· Communicate findings to attending physicians and document care activities in the electronic medical record (EMR).

· Monitor patient status and participate in treatment plan adjustments as appropriate.

Discharge Planning & Care Coordination

· Prepare patients for discharge and complete required documentation.

· Participate in discharge planning conferences as needed.

· Coordinate referrals and ensure continuity of care across care settings.

· Communicate hospital summaries to referring physicians when appropriate.

Patient & Family Support

· Educate, counsel, and support patients and families throughout the care journey.

· Provide emotional, psychological, and informational support.

· Advocate for patient needs and communicate effectively with the care team.

Collaboration & Quality Improvement

· Build strong relationships across departments and disciplines.

· Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in any field of study and completion of either a 2-year PA or NP Program required.

· License Nurse Practitioner License required., or Registration Physician Assistant License required ·

Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.

Certificate 1 Advanced Cardiac Life Support required. · 0-1 years related work experience required. · Demonstrated analytical abilities and strong interpretative skills for integrating information from the patient history, physical exam and diagnostic data to be able to formulate a differential diagnosis and subsequent treatment plan for patients in both elective and emergent situations. · Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Physical Requirements

Heavy Work

Pay Range

$105,300.00 USD - $171,900.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
