About the role

Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing endovascular revascularization procedures, including monitoring vitals and cardiac status. Assist in procedure room preparation, maintain sterile environments, and manage post-procedure recovery and discharge assessments.

GENERAL PURPOSE Orange County Surgery Center is a premier outpatient surgical facility committed to providing the highest quality surgical care. As one of the only Physician-owned and operated ambulatory surgical centers in California, our mission to bridge the gap between healthcare excellence and compassion remains at the forefront of all we do. At our center, we primarily perform endovascular revascularization procedures under local sedation. We are looking for a full-time nurse to join our team.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive Provide ongoing patient information to the interventionalist and clinical team during procedures to deliver vascular care to the patient including but not limited to cardiac monitoring, aldrete score, pain status Monitor patient vitals (HR, BP, O2Sat, EKG) during procedures Maintain radiation safety when C-Arm is in use in the procedure room Assist in procedure room preparation; maintain sterile techniques in the procedure room; assist with pre- and post-procedures including assessment of discharge Assist in recovery room patient care following vascular procedures Gather patient clinical information prior to procedures including patient assessments and patient history Keep clear and accurate patient medical records Maintain up-to-date narcotic drug log Assist inventory manager in maintaining inventory count Observe all OSHA and radiation safety monitoring policies Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to:
  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
  • Know, understand, and follow team mate guidelines, employment policies and procedures Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position

Minimum Qualifications

(Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required) A.D.N. degree from accredited school of nursing required; B.S.N. preferred; three-year diploma from accredited diploma program may be substituted for nursing degree Current RN license in state of practice required Minimum of two (2) years’ clinical experience in critical care, interventional radiology, or medical/surgical required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Word required

Preferred Qualifications

4 years of outpatient perioperative/OR experience strongly preferred. Previous OR experience with vascular/endovascular, interventional radiology or cardiovascular procedures (prefer OR circulating experience for endovascular). Must be willing to train to circulate. Previous experience with EMR applications that incorporate the intraoperative process CNOR cert.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position Ability to read, speak, and write English with clarity of expression sufficient to communicate technical and complex concepts of teammates, patients, and patient family members in clear and easily understandable terms required Ability to understand clinical/medical vocabulary written or spoken in English required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. In general the position requires the following physical activities: Ability to lift a minimum of 5 pounds to a maximum of 35 pounds un assisted; able to stand for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, with some sitting; full range of body motions required to lift patients, wear a lead apron, and lift supplies Manual dexterity and ability to work rapidly required Ability to perform patient transfers and positioning of patients up to 200 pounds unassisted; seek assistance for any patient over 200 pounds Ability to lift and move patient transport devices Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds

Requirements

Requires an ADN or BSN degree, a current RN license, and at least two years of experience in critical care, interventional radiology, or med/surg. BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory, with CNOR and outpatient perioperative experience preferred.
