About the Role
- As a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) at LifeSpan Therapy, you will play a crucial role in supporting licensed physical therapists in delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to residents recovering from injuries, surgeries, or managing chronic conditions.
- Your primary focus will be to assist residents in regaining mobility, reducing pain, and improving their overall physical function through therapeutic exercises and treatments.
- You will work closely with residents to monitor their progress, document responses to therapy, and adjust care plans under the supervision of a physical therapist.
- This role requires compassionate resident interaction, attention to detail in clinical documentation, and adherence to safety and infection control protocols.
- Ultimately, your contributions will directly impact residents' quality of life by helping them achieve their rehabilitation goals efficiently and safely.
- Job Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans by guiding residents through therapeutic exercises and activities.
- Contributes to the evaluation process by performing objective test(s), under the supervision of the PT.
- Assists with ordering and maintaining supplies as needed.
- Alerts Therapist to resident progress and any need to update or reevaluate the effectiveness of the treatment plan.
- Communicates a resident's functional status and needs to the resident, caregivers, and appropriate professionals.
- Actively integrates therapy's role into the interdisciplinary approach to treatment.
- Educate residents and their families on exercises, safety precautions, and home care techniques to support recovery.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident progress, treatment sessions, and any changes in condition using basic computer systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program.
- Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
- Basic proficiency in computer use for documentation and communication purposes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with residents and healthcare team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in outpatient rehabilitation or acute care settings.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems beyond basic computer literacy.
- Continuing education in resident safety and advanced therapeutic modalities.
