Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with disabilities. The ideal candidate will assist clients in their daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. This role requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those we serve while adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation. Provide support in maintaining a clean and organized living space. Lift and transfer clients safely as needed, ensuring their comfort and dignity. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations in all interactions. Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients. Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status. Engage clients in recreational activities that promote social interaction and skill development. Support clients in navigating community resources and services.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Background in home care, nursing home, hospice care, or assisted living settings is advantageous. Strong understanding of ADLs and the ability to assist clients effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and perform physical tasks as required. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality. Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others achieve their fullest potential. High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in caregiving or related fields are a plus.
