The Residential Specialist provides support to individuals experiencing mental health crises, teaching them to utilize wellness tools and develop integrated care plans. Responsibilities include advocacy, supportive counseling, and ensuring a therapeutic environment for guests.
Candidates must have experience in a behavioral health setting and be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor's degree is preferred, along with a respect for individuals in psychiatric crisis and strong problem-solving skills.

The Short Term Crisis Respite Support Specialist provides support to individuals experiencing challenges in daily life that create risk for an escalation of symptoms that cannot be managed in the individual’s home and community environment. Through the use of the Need Adapted Treatment Model the Crisis Respite Counselor will provide guests health and wellness coaching, relapse prevention planning, wellness activities, family support, conflict resolution, and other services as needed. Residential Specialist Job Responsibilities: Teach individuals to look at crisis differently and utilize wellness tools to prevent future crises or to decrease the intensity of personal crisis. Work closely with Health Homes, hospitals and treatment providers to develop an integrated plan of care including mental health, physical health, substance abuse services, and community supports necessary for individuals to succeed in the community. Provide advocacy, supportive counseling and referral and linkage services for program guests as needed and as assigned by the Program Director. Provide recovery oriented services incorporating Need Adapted Treatment and Motivational Interviewing. Provide coverage for the program as reflected in staffing plan, including overnights as required. Completes all required documentation, in timelines in accordance with program standards.
Work experience in a behavioral health or related setting, preferably using the recovery model. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of relevant experience working with individuals with Mental Health or Chemical Dependency disorders, or have a Bachelor’s Degree. Have professional experience with the mental health system. Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent (GED). A respect for and high level of comfort around people experiencing psychiatric crisis. Ability to utilize critical thinking, problem-solving and de-escalation skills to assist with creating and maintaining an environment that promotes recovery.
