The Monitor Technician observes cardiac monitors to detect changes in patient rate, rhythm, and arrhythmias. They are responsible for alerting medical staff to these changes and maintaining monitoring equipment.
Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of experience as a Nursing Attendant/Telemetry Technician or completion of a CCU/Advanced Medical Technician program. Candidates must be able to operate EKG machines and communicate effectively with clinical staff.
Observes various monitors and alerts nurses and physicians to changes in the patient's rate, rhythm and the occurrence of arrhythmias.
