Description Job Summary The Medical Assistant is responsible for obtaining patient records and test results, preparing treatment rooms for examinations and assists our practitioners during medical procedures. Essential Functions: Room patients and updating patient information into EMR system Transcribe for providers during exams Assist with biopsies and select surgical procedures Educate patients on treatment plans Assist with cosmetic procedures Complete prior authorizations for prescriptions, biologics, and procedures Stock rooms with necessary supplies Report biopsy, culture and/or lab results to patients via phone if directed by provider Sanitize all work areas throughout the day and after each patient Send patient visit notes to referring provider/PCP Answer incoming calls when not in a room with a provider Assist office staff with front end tasks if needed Other duties as assigned
Education, Skills, and Experience: High School Diploma required Must have certification from a Medical Assistant Program 1-3 years of relevant medical / surgical practice experience Professional attitude and appearance Solid written and verbal communication skills Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise Excellent organizational skills Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks Customer service attitude Experience with practice management software (ie EMA) and Microsoft Office Word and Excel Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
