The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care including rooming, obtaining vitals, and assisting with medical procedures across various specialty practices. They are also responsible for managing patient records, coordinating referrals, and maintaining a sterile clinic environment.
Requires a high school diploma, a Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program, and BLS certification. Candidates must have at least two years of related medical assisting experience in both front and back office settings.
Summary: Within the multi-specialty hub model, the Medical Assistant, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and Practice Leader, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of healthcare and patient care management. This role assists the providers within the scope of practice to provide quality patient care. This includes gathering patient information, assessing patient requests, obtaining and monitoring patient vitals, assisting with procedures, and adhering to infection prevention practices. This position rotates between multi-specialty practices as assigned based on patient volume demand. Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions: Pay Range: $28.00 - $31.21 - $36.41 Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Direct patient care: Rooming patients, including obtaining vital signs, obtaining reason for visit, and documenting symptoms their frequency, and severity. Prepares accurate medication list utilizing medication review standard workflow. Documents all required information in electronic medical records. Provide injections and immunizations as ordered by the provider. Provide assistance during medical procedures. Obtain all patient information required to meet regulatory obligations. Track the receipt of all results for all ordered tests. Ability to perform POCT as well as all quality controls. Ability to perform ECGs, place Zio patches per workflow protocol. Other duties as assigned. Communication and correspondence including lab results, prescription management, and referrals: Use electronic medical records and work off “task lists” to complete patient visits or requests. Follows critical lab result protocol. Provides patients with accurate information when answering questions and concerns. Maintains patient records and protects patient confidentiality. Complete referrals accurately and appropriately. Utilizes closed-loop communication to ensure providers and required staff aware of patient status. Maintain patient areas and supplies: Disinfect exam rooms between patients and all patient areas at the end of the day. Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply ordering/inventory. Adheres to infection prevention practices related to Instructions for Use (IFUs), re-processing standards of instruments and equipment.
Remains calm and effective in an emergency or in high-pressure situations. Collaborate with team members on various ongoing projects. Perform additional duties as assigned. Comply with all OSHA and safety regulations. This position may require working in multiple locations.
Education: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required. Licenses/Certifications: A Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program such as NHA and AMCA is required. BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required. Experience At least two years of related medical assisting experience with front and back office responsibilities at a physician’s office or other clinical setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in at least one specialty area preferred. Experience with insurance and prior auth preferred.
