About the role

Monitor and provide high-acuity care for critically ill and unstable patients following injury, surgery, or disease. Responsibilities include implementing care plans, assisting physicians with procedures, and advocating for patient needs.

Where You’ll Work The ICU at CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 24 bed unit.

We take care of any critical care patient and specialize in high acuity care.

We strive to leverage technology and highly skilled nurses to allow our community and surrounding areas to receive health care close to home.

Established by the Sisters of the St.

Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska.

At CHI Health Good Samaritan you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service.

Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our ICU RN at Good Samaritan Hospital, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease.

Every day, you will take a report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds.

You’ll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan.

This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, providing wound care, or administering medications.To thrive in this vital role, you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react.

You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift.

You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot.

Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use; utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms when necessary Initiates emergency support measures Assists with patient care duties/tasks We are offering up to $10,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 educational assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements Required Graduate of a nursing program Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within five(5) months of hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within five(5) months of hire

Requirements

Must be a graduate of a nursing program with a valid Nebraska RN license and BLS certification. ACLS and PALS certifications are required within five months of hire.
