The Mental Health Professional provides acute care and treatment as part of an integrated inpatient psychiatric team. Responsibilities include conducting psychosocial assessments, facilitating therapy sessions, and coordinating discharge and aftercare planning.
The Mental Health Professional is the primary inpatient psychiatric clinician providing acute care and treatment as part of an integrated treatment team led by the attending physician. The Mental Health Professional is responsible for caring for and coordinating their assigned patients and families. Primary duties include regular liaison with members of the treatment team, psychosocial assessments, individual and family sessions, group therapy, safety planning, discharge planning, aftercare follow-up, and liaison with community agencies as needed etc. The Mental Health Professional reports to the Acute Psychiatric Hospital’s Social Service Supervisor and is a member of the Social Service Department.
• Master's Degree - Required
• 1 year Behavioral Health - Inpatient or Residential Treatment – Required
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required
ACSW Associate Clinical Social Worker OR AMFT Associate Marriage and Family Therapist - California Board of Behavioral Science - Required
CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training- Required within 30-days of hire and renewal annually or within 30-days of return from a leave of absence
Per the CDPH Program Flex 3838, John Muir Behavioral Health Center is approved “to recruit and Hire (1) Associate Clinical Social Workers (ASWs) (2) License Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs), (3) Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFTs). This grants program flexibility for California Code of Regulations T22 DIV5 CH2 ART6-71519.(a), T22 DIV5 CH2 ART6-71519 through May 2026.

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.
Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.

A Master's degree and at least one year of experience in inpatient or residential behavioral health are required. Candidates must hold BLS certification and obtain CPI training within 30 days of hire.
