The Laboratory Aide performs technical and clerical functions including specimen processing, accessioning, and order entry. They are responsible for instrument preparation, sample storage, and assisting technical personnel with pre and post-analytical duties.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for six months of clinical laboratory experience or one year of biological specimen handling. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and knowledge of medical terminology or LIS systems is desired.
The Laboratory Aide performs various technical and clerical functions, under the supervision of a qualified technical employee. Duties may include: order entry, specimen processing, instrument preparation, delivery, storage and retrieval activities. The standard of ethical and professional performance must be consistent with established medical laboratory practice.
