Provides basic supportive care to pediatric patients in a cardiology clinic, including collecting vital signs and performing EKGs. Maintains clinic environment by stocking supplies, cleaning rooms, and assisting with patient positioning during procedures.
Requires a State Tested Nurse Aide License in Ohio, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license. Candidates must have one year of hospital patient care experience within the last three years or equivalent education.
24 hrs per week, Monday - Friday (three 8-hr shifts) Will not float | No weekends or holidays Minimum pay- $19.10 per hr PCA tasks- vitals, manual BP checks, specific reading, EKGs, place cardiac monitors on patients to wear home; stocking, cleaning, turning over rooms Main campus sees approx. 60 pts per day in clinic. 1 PCA to 15 pts is average. The Cardiology Clinic sees patients at some regional locations throughout Ohio. Nurses and PCAs may be assigned to work at one of these locations on any given day. The team meets at Nationwide Children’s Main Campus and rides together in an NCH vehicle. Team members share driving to and from these locations. Summary: Performs basic supportive care to specified patients and families under the direction and supervision of an RN or Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN or Care Manager.
Essential Functions: Collects, documents, and reports vital signs. May complete screening questions and documentation or minor specimen testing as assigned. Promotes general patient safety. Holds and positions patients and assists with procedures. Prepares materials and supplies as delegated. Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism, and ensures confidentiality of patient information. Ensures environmental standards are met and all unit and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained. Performs clerical and administrative tasks as necessary. Completes continuing education and participates in offered educational opportunities. May act as a preceptor and train other staff. Education Requirement: Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent licensure or experience, required. Licensure Requirement: Active State Tested Nurse Aide License in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience, required.
Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider), required.
Effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist in providing age appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients. Displays a positive presence and interacts with patients, families, staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians.
