Provides diagnostic and therapeutic social work services to patients and families within an interdisciplinary team to improve overall health. Offers consultation and training to staff on psychosocial issues and participates in research and quality improvement.
Requires a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) credential, with LISW preferred. Two years of clinical social work experience is preferred.
This social worker is a member of a passionate multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive care for pediatric patients (birth to 21 years) who require plastic surgery due to congenital anomalies, including cleft lip/palate, skin lesions, and reconstruction following burns and other traumatic injuries. As a valued & highly utilized member of the team, responsibilities include assessment & intervention for barriers to care, acute safety concerns ,transition-to-adulthood planning patient coping/stress management, and general support as families navigate the healthcare system. Additional responsibilities include attending interdisciplinary team care meetings and engaging with the team in quality improvement. There are also opportunities to participate & contribute to department education.
Summary: Provides developmentally appropriate, outcome-focused diagnostic and therapeutic service to patients and families in accordance with the scope of practice as defined in Chapter 4757 of the Ohio Revised Code, Section 4757.01 et seq. Practices professional social work and promotes advocacy in accordance with the NASW Code of Ethics for Social Work and maintains a current Ohio Social Work license. Job Description: Essential Functions: Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team and provides Clinical Medical Social Work services to patients and their families to improve or maintain social, emotional, functional and physical health. Provides consultation, education, and training to staff regarding psychosocial issues that impact the delivery of optimal health care services. Participates in the development and delivery of education, research and continuous quality improvement. Education Requirement: MSW, required. Licensure Requirement: LSW, required. LISW, preferred.
