TITLE: Medical Assistant – RHC
Department: Healthcare Practices
Day shift. However, position may require evening and weekend hours. Hours may be variable to meet office/patient needs. Location may be variable. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands.
Responsible for the direct care of patients presenting themselves in an office, ambulatory setting. Involved in clerical services and clinical responsibilities. Cooperates with all members of the health team to meet total patient needs.
A. Education/Experience
1. High School Graduate ore quivalency, required.
2. Completion of a formal MA education program or equivalent required.
3. Previous Medical Assistant clinical experience in a Primary Healthcare Practice ,or equivalent ,preferred.
4. 1 year previous experience administering medications and immunizations preferred.
5. Previous experience working with general public, required.
6. Computer skills required.
7. Previous experience in medical professional billing, coding, insurance verification, desired.
B. Licensure/Certification
1. Certification as Medical Assistant, or equivalent, required within 3 months of hire.
2. Current BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
3. Personal Skills
1. Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, providers and other support personnel.
2. Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested.
3. Influences the direction of Primary Healthcare Practice by maintaining composure, excellence and a positive perspective/attitude.
4. Ability to promote and adapt to change in order to remain current with standards of practice and services in the Primary Healthcare Practice setting.
5. Ability to apply the principles of quality care and service in the Medical Assistant role, in the Primary Healthcare Practice setting.
6. Evidence of a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty and positive attitude.
7. Knowledge and ability to learn the safe use of various office equipment.
