The PACU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care and assessments to pediatric patients in the recovery room to ensure safety after surgery. They are responsible for formulating individualized care plans and providing leadership through preceptor roles and quality improvement efforts.
Candidates must possess a Texas RN license, BLS certification, and a BSN (or be currently pursuing one). Preferred experience includes pediatric specialties such as burn rehabilitation, orthopedics, or maternal/child health.
Involves patient, family, and health care team members in formulating an appropriate individualized plan of care and identifies expected outcomes based on nursing assessment and diagnosis. Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family, and health care team members. Ensures all components of the plan of care are documented in the patient health record. Evaluates the patient/family's understanding of and response to the plan of care. Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs. Required: BSN or in progress Texas RN license Basic Life Support (BLS) Preferred: Experience in the pediatric specialty of the hospital which may include: Maternal/Child, Orthopaedic, Burn Rehabilitation
