The Nurse Tech provides direct patient care and maintains care standards under the direction of an RN or LPN. Responsibilities include managing multiple priorities and adapting to a rapidly changing emergency department environment.
Candidates must have a High School diploma and be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program with at least two semesters of clinical experience. BLS certification is required before the end of the orientation period.
Overview The Nurse Tech works under the direction of the RN/LPN. The responsibilities of the Nurse Tech include providing direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards. The Nurse Tech must exhibit the ability to work with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds; to organize, set priorities and manage multiple, priorities and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Education: High School/GED required. Candidates must meet the following criteria: Completed a minimum of 2 semesters of clinical experience within an academic nursing program. Completed the following educational courses and clinical experience: Fundamentals of Nursing and Pharmacology including medication administration. Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited Associate Degree, Diploma or Baccalaureate Professional Nursing Program. Nursing graduates pending completion of NCLEX are also eligible. License/Certification: BLS required before conclusion of orientation period. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent preferred.
