The CRNA provides comprehensive anesthetic care, including induction, maintenance, and emergence, in cooperation with a supervising physician. They are responsible for monitoring patient reactions to sedatives and ensuring safety throughout the peri-anesthesia process.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program and hold a valid RN license in Pennsylvania. Board certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists and current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.

The CRNA provides anesthetic care for all patients in cooperation with the supervising physician, following Department of Anesthesiology standards and hospital policies. They administer anesthesia, monitor patients' reactions to sedatives and anesthetic agents, and inform the anesthesiologist of any adverse conditions that may threaten patient safety.
Administer anesthesia and related care, including pre-anesthetic preparation, induction, maintenance, emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia support. Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs. Performs according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Review appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site with operating room staff and surgeon in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards Participate in the Quality Improvement (QI) process through documentation, incident reporting, evaluation, education, and implementation.
