Provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for pediatric surgical patients in clinic and inpatient settings. Manage patients across the NICU, PICU, and pediatric floors, including performing vascular access using ultrasound guidance.
Requires a master's, postmaster's, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program and current RN and NP licensure. National board certification as a Pediatric Acute Care (CPNP-AC) is required, along with a DEA permit.
Conduct thorough assessments including medical and surgical histories, and physical exams tailored to pediatric patients. Coordinate and interpret diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and specialized pediatric studies. Assist in surgical planning and participate in multidisciplinary pediatric care conferences. Manage preoperative preparation including patient and family education, consent processes, and risk assessments. Provide postoperative care including pain management, wound care, monitoring for complications, and discharge planning. Monitor patients in inpatient, outpatient, and critical care pediatric settings. Collaborate with pediatric specialists, nutritionists, child life specialists, and social workers. Provide family-centered education and psychosocial support. Document clinical care accurately and comprehensively in electronic health records This position also provides on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours. Qualifications Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. If Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred. Experience in pediatric surgery, pediatric acute care, or related fields preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice. State Controlled Substance License (if required by State) National board certification as a Pediatric Acute Care (CPNP-AC), Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP–C), Pediatric Primary Care (CPNP-PC) or (PPCNP-BC) Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
