Overview

The Homemaker/Companion provides non-medical support services to residents through Duncaster’s In-Home Companion and Support program. Services are designed to support resident independence, enhance quality of life, promote safety and well-being, and provide companionship within the residents’ home and throughout the Duncaster community.

The Homemaker/Companion will follow the individualized service plan as prescribed and provide services in a professional, respectful, compassionate, and confidential manner consistent with Duncaster’s mission, values, policies, and customer service standards.

• Essential Functions
• Follows and implements each resident’s individualized service plan.
• Provides services in accordance with established policies, schedules, and resident preferences.
• Observes and promptly reports changes in resident condition, behavior, or environment.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of services provided.
• Performs light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, organizing, and laundry.
• Assists with meal planning, preparation, grocery shopping, and errands.
• Provides companionship and engages residents in conversation and meaningful activities.
• Encourages safe physical activity and accompany residents to programs, appointments, and community events.
• Supports residents with non-medical personal care needs, including grooming and daily routines.
• Promotes resident dignity, independence, and choice in all interactions.
• Maintains confidentiality and ensures compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
• Demonstrates professionalism and maintains a safe environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• 1 year of experience working with older adults is required.
• Previous personal care experience in senior living, home care, or equivalent.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.

Hours

Schedule

Per diem/as-needed role with highly flexible hours, including a few hours per week, or full 8-hour shifts on days, evenings, nights, or weekends.

Availability

Hours vary based on resident needs; candidates should be comfortable with a flexible schedule and accepting assignments as they arise.

Pay Rate

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour (based on experience)
