The Peer Support Specialist provides direct counseling and recovery modeling to individuals with severe mental illness within an Assertive Community Treatment team. They assist clients in implementing goals, obtaining services, and documenting clinical progress in community-based settings.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in South Carolina. Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery and a valid driver's license with reliable transportation are required.
The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a non-profit organization that assists homeless individuals, both adults and youth, with clinical needs and permanent housing, and is seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist.
Applicants without an active Certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist in South Carolina WILL NOT be considered.
Under the supervision of the ACT Team Lead, the Peer Support Specialist works on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. ACT consists of professionals from multiple disciplines who use a team approach to meet the needs of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in community-based settings.
Considered a professional, non-exempt position that is regular full-time.
