Perform diagnostic MRI exams according to department protocols while ensuring patient safety and image quality. Maintain equipment through routine quality control and document processes using RIS and PACS systems.
Requires a high school diploma and specific ARRT or state licensure in MRI or related radiologic technologies. Must possess venipuncture skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.
Upon the order of a qualified physician, the Per Diem MRI Technologist will utilize equipment which utilizes high field magnetic energy for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Imaging services vary by location, therefore, performance of certain MR and MRA exams may be required depending on assigned site. The Per Diem MRI Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PACS). . May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties.
Performs diagnostic MRI exams according to policies, procedures and protocols of the KSC radiology department. Understands and applies technical principles affecting optimal production of MRI images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting final product. Understands age related communication needs of patients and is able to effectively convey instructions to patients to facilitate the performance of MRI studies Participates in Technical Quality Control measures, which include performance of routine equipment maintenance and reporting malfunctions or variances in equipment performance to the Radiology Department Supervisor or his/her designee in the supervisor’s absence. Maintains necessary supplies and documentation of cleaning and QC logs as applicable Uses RIS system correctly, according to Clinic and Department guidelines and properly documents, for the radiologist’s review, atypical conditions, which could affect image quality and/or content. Understands PACS system and can identify problems with image transmission as they occur and notify Radiology Supervisor or Radiology Department Coordinator when corrective actions are beyond the scope of the technologist Conscious of MRI safety measures and demonstrates competence in the selection and use of appropriate imaging coil as is age and anatomically appropriate for the patient. Utilizes sterile technique when necessary and maintains competency in venipuncture technique as it applies to administration of IV contrast Participates in formal and in-service training programs of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, department specific in services, and any applicable site specific training. Maintains current applicable licenses and/or certifications and complies with continuing education requirements necessary to maintain same. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties Interacts effectively with patients and coworkers, including staff assigned to other locations. Communicates readily and well with Supervisor, Coordinator and Radiologists in giving and receiving feedback. Must have the ability to understand and respond to questions by giving factual information. Capable of dealing effectively with other clinic departments, physicians, and staff. High School diploma or equivalent Graduate of a program approved by the credentialing body for the required associated license(s) ARRT-MR - Radiologic Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT) -- For no experience OR ARMRIT - Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist -- For no experience OR CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure -- For no experience AND ARRT-R - Radiologic Technologist - Radiographer (ARRT) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience OR ARRT-N - Radiologic Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Tech (ARRT) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience OR ARRT-SON - Radiologic Technologist - Sonography (ARRT) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience OR RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience. RDMS certified as an Ultrasound Technologist OR CNMT - Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) -- For 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience Ability to use computer keyboard and grasp elements of digital image acquisition venipuncture Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
BLS certification through American Heart Assoc 1+ years of MRI PACS and RIS experience Proficiency in Microsoft Word and/or Excel Venipuncture IV administration experience Bi-lingual or multi-lingual
