Futures Recovery Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA will assist in implementing individualized treatment plans for patients recovering from substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, chronic pain, mobility limitations, and other physical impairments.
The ideal candidate is patient-focused, dependable, and committed to supporting individuals through both physical rehabilitation and overall recovery.
This position operates within a residential and outpatient behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment setting. The Physical Therapy Assistant works closely with patients recovering from addiction, mental health disorders, chronic pain, and physical limitations. The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and patient-focused, requiring professionalism, empathy, emotional resilience, and the ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Daily interaction with healthcare providers, therapists, counselors, nurses, and support staff is expected.
Physical demands
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and assisting patients with movement and therapeutic exercises.
Ability to lift, transfer, and support patients and equipment up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Manual dexterity and physical stamina required to demonstrate exercises and assist with rehabilitation activities.
Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations and maintain a safe treatment environment.
Visual and auditory ability sufficient to monitor patient conditions, communicate effectively, and complete documentation accurately.
