Care
Assistant who excels in this role:
Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
Keeps patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
Manages the tech desk; supports nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
Documents care and activities per unit standards.
Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned.
Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure: Occupational exposure may be present for all employees in this role. Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing, walking, reaching, keyboard entry, repetitive hand/arm and foot/leg movements, kneeling, and lifting/moving patients; occasional sitting and squatting; rare running or climbing. Near/far vision and depth perception frequent/constant; color distinction frequent. Environmental Exposures: Occasional exposure to biohazardous waste, communicable diseases/pathogens, dust, gases/vapors/fumes, hazardous chemicals/medications; latex exposure frequent.
Education: High School diploma preferred.
SRNA or EMT preferred.
BCLS required; Handle with Care preferred.

A high school diploma is preferred, and BCLS certification is required. Preference is given to candidates with SRNA or EMT licenses and Handle with Care certification.
