Key Responsibilities: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a diverse patient population with medical diagnoses (e.g., pneumonia, CHF, COPD, diabetes) and post-surgical conditions (e.g., appendectomy, cholecystectomy, orthopedic repairs, abdominal surgeries). Administer medications, fluids, and blood products as ordered, monitoring for adverse reactions. Perform frequent patient assessments, including vital signs, pain levels, intake/output, and mental status. Collaborate with physicians, case managers, physical therapists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate discharge planning and continuity of care. Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, post-discharge instructions, and disease management. Monitor for post-operative complications including infection, bleeding, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and ileus. Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, ambulation, toileting, and feeding as needed. Respond to changes in patient condition, initiate appropriate interventions, and communicate concerns to the medical team. Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all nursing care and patient responses in the EMR. Ensure a safe, clean, and organized patient environment, including fall prevention protocols and infection control measures. Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification.
