About the role

The CMA is responsible for rooming patients, documenting vitals, and collecting specimens while maintaining accurate patient charts. They also handle medication reconciliation, lab orders, and provide general administrative support to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Position requirements - What you need to know before applying

Full-Time Commitment: This is a full-time position (Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week).

Shift Availability: Shifts may begin as early as 7:30 AM and may end as late as 5:30 PM. You must be available to work shifts within this range.

Reliable Transportation: You must have reliable transportation to travel locally to our satellite offices around I-270. Mileage reimbursement is available for eligible midday travel.

What you'll do

As a Certified Medical Assistant at COUG, you’ll play a critical role in keeping the clinic running smoothly while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Your role will include

  • Rooming patients and verifying patient identifiers (DOB)
  • Obtaining and documenting patient vitals (BP, height, weight, pulse, temperature)
  • Collecting specimens and performing UA and PVRs
  • Educating patients on proper urine sample collection
  • Documenting in the patient chart accurately and timely
  • Collecting and reviewing patient health history
  • Medication reconciliation
  • Sending labs (including cytology, rectal swabs, cultures)
  • Placing requisitions and orders per provider direction
  • Assisting with administrative and clinic support tasks as needed

  • What you bring
  • Current Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program (required)
  • A minimum of 3+ consecutive years as a Certified Medical Assistant within the last 5 years in an ambulatory clinic or hospital setting (required)
  • An innate ability to think critically, act decisively, and maintain calm focus in a fast-paced clinical environment

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current Medical Assistant certification and have at least 3 consecutive years of experience in an ambulatory or hospital setting within the last 5 years. Reliable transportation for travel between satellite offices and availability for shifts between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM are required.
