About the role

The therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy to patients while developing individualized treatment plans and admission assessments. They also act as a liaison between families and outside agencies to ensure effective discharge planning and care coordination.

Responsibilities

  • River Oaks Hospital, located minutes outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a 126-bed psychiatric facility that has provided quality treatment to individuals suffering from mental illness and/or addictive disorders since 1970.
  • Situated on a 14-acre campus, inpatient services are available for adults and adolescents.
  • We also offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adults.
  • The New Orleans Institute provides specialized services for the treatment of trauma and compulsive behaviors.
  • The Eating Disorders Treatment Center offers a comprehensive program for male and female adults with anorexia, bulimia, and related eating disorders.
  • Both the New Orleans Institute and the Eating Disorders Treatment Center are nationally recognized for their excellence.
  • These programs receive referrals from around the United States and are acknowledged as leading centers in their respective fields.
  • River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Licensed Therapist PRN.
  • Under the supervision of the Clinical Services Director or the director of outpatient Services, the Therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy to meet caseload requirements.
  • Responsible for developing and writing admission assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries within established time frames and formats.
  • Is a liaison with families, outside agencies and referral sources.
  • Responsible for assessment, design, structure, and implementation of therapy services to best meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Performs duties in accordance with the CMS Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and facility mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards.
  • Job Duties may include but are not limited to: Presentations at treatment plan reviews are concise and well organized.
  • Presentations reflect an accurate clinical awareness of patient and an ability to articulate and develop an individualized treatment plan as observed by supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED: Experience: Two years post graduate work experience in mental health or related field preferred. Two years direct practice experience and/or clinical (graduate, continuing ed., etc.) training specific to individual, family and group therapy (if specialized issues group, training must be specific to issue) Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health field required Licensure/Certification: Must have a current certification or licensure by the State of Louisiana (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) or under supervision pursuing licensure for LCSW, LPC, or LMFT Working Knowledge: Must have good clinical skills to assess dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan. Must have good analytical ability to evaluate information reported by all members of the treatment team and revise treatment strategies accordingly. Must have communication and teamwork abilities to support the clinicians, nurses and utilization review colleagues working with the population. Must possess a working knowledge of how to identify appropriate referral resources within the community and organizational skills to engage in case management, including discharge planning. Ability to assess the needs and provide the required range of treatment modalities and interventions A minimum of one year experience in discharge planning, clinical case management or a similar position in a community based agency setting which provides experience in referrals for patients. Experience with performing utilization reviews. Requirements

A Master's degree in a mental health field and current licensure in Louisiana (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) are required. Preference is given to candidates with two years of post-graduate experience in mental health and experience in discharge planning or utilization review.
