Requirements summary
Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed to practice in Louisiana. Requires BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association.
The LPN Clinic provides appropriate medical care and counseling to the patient.
Assists the medical provider in the delivery of care under stable and predictable conditions within the framework of a patient care assignment.
General Duties Clinical Skills Provides patient care under supervision and in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Measures and records vital signs per departmental policy and patient age; identifies and reports abnormal findings.
Supports clinic flow, including: Patient intake and rooming Assisting with and performing procedures Scheduling appointments Facilitating patient discharge Prepares patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
Monitors for signs of abuse or neglect and reports per policy.
Recognizes and responds to emergencies in accordance with organizational procedures.
Performs basic clinical procedures (e.g., simple dressing changes) within scope and competency.
Ensures patient comfort, considering age and special needs.
Prepares, tests, cleans, and disinfects clinical equipment per hospital policy.
Administers medications and vaccines as prescribed following departmental guidelines.
Collects, prepares, and secures specimens for testing or transport; performs point-of-care testing per laboratory guidelines.
Maintains medication inventory, storage, and disposal standards, including: Monitoring expiration dates Ensuring proper storage conditions (temperature logs, etc.) Safely handling multi-dose medications Documentation Accurately documents clinical tasks, procedures, and test results in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Completes required paperwork, including quality control documentation for waived testing.
Maintains patient confidentiality by securing access to protected health information.
Utilizes EMR systems to: Access lab and radiology results Update patient demographics Retrieve medical records Schedule follow-up appointments Prepares safety reports as needed or directed by leadership.
Professionalism & Support Communicates with and keeps the clinic manager informed of activities, challenges, and needs.
Upholds strict patient confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
Safety & Infection Control Supports compliance with safety, infection control, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Adheres to standard and transmission-based precautions.
Promotes patient safety during all clinic interactions.
Maintains a clean and organized clinical environment.
Reports safety concerns or hazards promptly.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives, including: QAPI projects Environment of Care (EOC) rounds Clerical Support Assists in clinic preparation by gathering patient documentation for provider review.
Scans and uploads external documents into the EMR.
Obtains medical records from external facilities as requested.
Answers and directs phone calls promptly and professionally.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association.
Licensed to practice as an LPN in Louisiana.
