Clinical Counselor II: Co-Occurring

LRADAC offers a wide array of prevention, intervention and treatment programs in both Lexington and Richland counties. We tailor our programs to meet the ever-changing needs of the communities we serve. Our prevention, intervention and treatment programs spread the message that there is hope and that substance misuse and addiction are preventable and treatable.

• In support of our purpose to improve communities, we are expanding our treatment services to partner with Columbia Area Mental Health (CAMH) to provide individual and group counseling of an advanced nature to patients presenting with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental illness.
• This SCORF (South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund) grant-funded Clinical Counselor is located at CAMH but works under the regular supervision of a LRADAC Program Manager.
• In this role, the Counselor will counsel and aid adolescents, adults, and their families requiring assistance managing and improving symptoms of co-occurring substance use disorders and mental illness.
• Grant-funded position with a August 30, 2026 end date.
• Position continuance contingent upon grant renewal.

• Position logistics
• Full-time 37.5 hours a week
• Schedule is routinely Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Evening hours may be required with a flex schedule as approved by supervisor.

• Educational and experience requirements
• Master’s degree in a field related to clinical behavioral health is required.
• Must have license or be in the process of obtaining licensure.
• At least one (1) year of experience in performing the essential duties of the position for substance use/misuse populations required.
• Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and/or Licensure as an LPHA preferred.
• If not fully independently licensed as LPHA, must obtain ADC certification within three (3) years.

• Essential duties and responsibilities
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Develops and maintains individualized treatment plans.
• Manages and monitors patient progress, identifies patient needs, and maintains all clinical records through independent work as well as treatment team engagement.
• Provides individual, family, group and crisis intervention counseling services.
• Provides case consultation and case management services to assure comprehensive quality care of a patient
• Participates in regular clinical supervision.
• Provides bio-psycho-social assessments as needed.
