Provide direct patient care and perform critical intraoperative tasks, including saphenous vein harvesting and wound closure, within the Surgery Department. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize patient outcomes in a cardiac surgical environment.
Requires a degree from an ARC-PA approved program and a current Physician Assistant license from the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure. BLS certification is required, and previous cardiology experience is preferred.
As a Surgery Physician Assistant, you will operate within the specialized field of perioperative services, providing advanced clinical care in a surgical environment. This role includes performing critical intraoperative tasks, guided by evidence-based practices. The key duties include: Handling and/or cutting tissue during surgeries Providing surgical exposure for optimal visibility Using surgical instruments and medical devices effectively Performing suturing and wound closure Managing hemostasis during procedures Conducting saphenous vein harvesting as part of specific surgical procedures Classification: This position is classified as safety-sensitive, meaning it has the potential to affect the safety and health of the individual in the role, as well as others within the hospital environment.
Education - Baccalaureate degree or a minimum of two years of college credit or graduate from ARC-PA (Accreditation Review Commission on education for the Physician Assistant) approved program. Current license as a Physician Assistant with the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure. Licensure/Certification: Current BLS certification required.
Cardiology experience preferred.
