Staff Nurse

• The Staff Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory provides professional nursing care to all people of all ages and their families.
• Utilizes knowledge of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and document care.
• Formulates nursing diagnosis for treating actual or potential health problems, teaching, counseling and providing care.
• Delegates appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel.
• Displays professional practice as set forth in The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s standard of care, and the institution’s mission and goals.

Assist in cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures. Monitors and examines patients prior to procedures, as well as during and after procedure care. Administers medications including conscious sedation and assists the medical team as needed during the procedure. Responsible to all patient’s documentations and procedure notes, ensuring all documentation are completed correctly and in timely manner.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited colleges or universities – HIGHLY PREFERRED
• One (1) year acute care experience.
• One (1) year Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) experience.
• Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Conscious Sedation certificate
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well with patients, physicians and other members of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab
• Basic computer knowledge and skills, comprehensive knowledge of cardiac instrumentation, equipment and procedures
