The Social Worker II provides independent clinical social work services, including biopsychosocial assessments, therapy, and case management within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. They are responsible for managing complex patient cases, conducting clinical reviews, and facilitating safe therapeutic environments.
Requires a Master's degree in Social Work and LCSW-C licensure from the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners. A minimum of three years of post-Master's experience in clinical social work or case management is required.
Job Requirements Located in Largo in the heart of Prince George’s County, our new state-of-the-art regional medical center (University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center) will provide improved access to primary and ambulatory care services and serve as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. The Social Worker II independently practices social work and receives limited consultation, functioning as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide case management, therapeutic crisis intervention, biopsychosocial assessment, clinical evaluation, therapy, counseling, referral, treatment planning, and other clinical social work services within their practice area.
· Demonstrates ability to independently advocate for self and team members. · Participates in a council and/or a committee within the healthcare system. · Participates in conversations about unit practice & provides recommendations for improvement. · Completes all specific job tasks within their assigned department as outlined by supervisor. · Perform all other duties as assigned.
Work Experience Master’s degree in Social Work accredited by Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). LCSW- C (Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical) licensure from the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners. Minimum three (3) years of post-Master’s experience is required.
a) clinical social work and/or case management practice areas; b) completing clinical social work functions such as clinical assessment, treatment planning, clinical intervention, case management, psychoeducation, referral, psychotherapy, counseling, diagnosis of mental health disorders, advocacy. c) effective critical thinking d) communications both written and oral e) Age appropriate interpersonal interactions (patients may range from newborn to geriatric adult).
a) communicate and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders (i.e. colleagues, medical staff, liaisons, patient, family); b) assess, adapt, and calmly respond to changing and/or crisis environment; c) make independent decisions consistent with current policies, procedures, and ethical standards; d) prioritize work assignments and manage time effectively to complete duties; e) assist in data analysis, f) demonstrate innovative thinking, integrity, and accountability; and g) act as a model for peers in regard to these skills.
