The Medical Assistant provides essential patient services in the Emergency Department, including phlebotomy, EKG performance, and vital sign monitoring. They are also responsible for preparing treatment areas and assisting with the application of bandages and splints.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and a certification as a Medical Assistant or EMT, along with current CPR certification. Previous experience in an Emergency Department is preferred.
The Medical Assistant, performs patient services as requested including phlebotomy, obtaining EKG’s, applying bandages/splints. Perform patient vital signs and other care as needed. Prepares and maintains examination and treatment areas. Prepares patients for examination/procedure. Collects and processes specimens. Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control. Applies simple dressings and/or ace bandages, and assists with splint/brace application. Performs and documents EKG’s. Performs phlebotomy.
HS Diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assistant certification/equivalent training or EMT certification required. CPR certification required. ED experience preferred
