About the role

The Registered Nurse provides integrated nursing and medical services for individuals with mental disorders, substance abuse, and general medical conditions. They coordinate care with internal and external providers while managing common conditions like hypertension and diabetes.

What we are looking for

The Registered Nurse role is responsible for the provision of integrated nursing/medical services in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of persons with mental disorders, co-occurring substance abuse, and general medical conditions within their scope of practice. They coordinate integrated care with internal and external providers of mental health, physical health, and substance use disorders. The Registered Nurse monitors and manages general medical conditions focusing on the most common conditions including hypertension, diabetes, asthma/COPD, overweight, obesity, and tobacco use.

Compensation Range

The starting pay for this position is $60,350 and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current, unrestricted, State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification
  • Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License
  • Reliable transportation and current proof of auto insurance
  • Prior clinical experience and demonstrated proficiency in providing clinical and nursing services including, but not limited to: collecting vitals, performing injections, and point of care testing
  • Prior clinical experience and demonstrated proficiency in medical management, crisis, and behavior management techniques
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology used in a mental health setting
  • Experience with the application of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in health care organizations
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft office products
  • Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHRs)
  • Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to use discretion and judgment when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature
  • Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to be forward thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with the usual pressures of managing multiple priorities with time constraints
  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously
  • Ability to work max 24 hours per week

Preferred

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing

At least 1 year of experience as a registered nurse providing face-to-face, clinical services in any of the following settings: Behavioral Health, Community Mental Health, Psychiatric Hospital, State facility, Ambulatory Behavioral Health, Crisis Center, Substance Use Facility, Partial Hospital Program, Residential Program, or similar

Use of health registries including the Michigan Automated Prescription System (MAPS), PMP AWARxE Program, Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).

General knowledge of the community mental health system based on the Michigan Mental Health Code and MDHHS contract

Requirements

Candidates must have an Associate degree in Nursing, a current Michigan RN license, and CPR/BLS certification. Proficiency in clinical nursing services, medical management, and electronic health records is required.
