Registered Nurse - Care Coordinator - Bed Access Management

Shift- 12hr Nights (7pm-7am) Employment Type

• Part Time with benefits *must be able to work a minimum of 24 hours per week
• Primary Purpose Provides bed management to all patients presenting to Parkland and serves as an information resource for external facilities, patient, patient families, nursing units and physicians to facilitate the movement of patients through the hospital in accordance with Parkland policies and procedures. Works in conjunction with healthcare teams to coordinate the transfer of patients within the institution and inter-facility, utilizing sound knowledge of Bed Access Management (BAM) departmental and PHHS policies and procedures as well as in-depth analysis and use of individual judgment.

• Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Prefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Experience

• Must have recent acute care experience. Must have two years of medical/surgical nursing experience. Prefer two years nursing experience to include critical care experience.
• Equivalent
• Experience: May have an equivalent combination of education or experience to substitute for the above requirements.
• Certification/Registration/Licensure: Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing, or valid Compact RN license. Must have current healthcare provider

• Abilities: Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards. Must be able to apply knowledge of nursing, patient conditions, and hospital conditions into admitting, transferring, and monitoring functions. Must be able to demonstrate ability to use independent judgment in resolving issues within established guidelines. Must be able to communicate/collaborate effectively with Parkland staff, physicians, patients and patient families. Must be able to demonstrate patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors. Must be able to prioritize bed assignments in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of specific patient populations, and be able to demonstrate knowledge of disease processes affecting this group. Must be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of basic skills for computer software and of PC operations. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the laws and regulations governing Medicare, Medicaid and community-based funding sources. Must be self-directed and capable of priority setting and problem solving. Must be able to handle potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks simultaneously.
